[ANOTHER UPDATE, 1/11/2006: There’s big Marsupial fun over on the Encyclopedia Dramatica: an article on the Extinct Marsupial went up (there's even a nice picture of Lunktard and one of his "lovely wives"!), and someone tries to keep rewriting it, asserting (in very poor markup language) that "antisense" has nothig at all to do with any of this, it was all some whole bunch of other people and it's all lies, lies, LIES! That's when he's not just deleting it entirely. Clearly he doesn't understand how wikis work, either. Managing to prove with his actions what he denies with his words, he's onto his third sock-puppet there at this point. Today.]

So, why is this page here? It all began a few days after Christmas 2005, when I expressed my intention to reregister a domain I'd previously held and had let lapse, STONEMIRROR.ORG. I got onto Verio's web site the following day, and paid for five years worth of registration on the domain and made the arrangements to have it hosted here, on Quartz. Later that day, I received a couple of "spam" comments—posted anonymously from open proxies—to that entry which directed me to look at the registration information for that domain. Someone had reregistered it only hours before I had tried to! And looking at the registration record for the domain, it quickly became clear that the information provided was fraudulent.

When STONEMIRROR.ORG was initially fraudulently registered, the address of the registrant—"Mo Shurley"—was given as 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Jarlsburg, WA 98105. There is no town of Jarlsburg in the state of Washington. The zip code 98105 is in Seattle (there's no "Pennsylvania Avenue" in Seattle, either). The contact phone is in Montana, but it's disconnected, anyway. The information has since been updated with an only-slightly more believable address of 11070 Bench Boulevard, Billings, Montana. There is indeed a Billings in Montana; there's even a Bench Boulevard, but there's no number 11070. Check on Google Maps and see for yourself! The phone is still disconnected. Too bad, I'd really like to have a chat with "Mo"...

The email address given, though, wasn't inaccurate: it was "chemo_gnostic@yahoo.com", an address I'd seen many times before. This was clearly the work of Lunktard, the Extinct Marsupial, a well-known Austin, Texas-based liar, troll and general scumbag who's made himself a terrific nuisance on the Internet since the 1990s. He began his career as a mendacious pest on USENET, but has moved his harassing activities to Livejournal in the past several years. His taste for lies, sockpuppets and pedophilia haven't changed any, though.

Lunktard, the Serial Harasser

Lunktard, or Citizen 70.112.95.200, as he is also known—for being such a total dullard that he uses the same damned IP address, even when he's doing something that's clearly criminal—has a regular habit of accusing people who disagree with him of being pedophiles themselves, as well as prostitutes, drug users, Satanists, and more, not to mention attempting to affect their employment and/or businesses, going back as long as a decade.

He went out with a woman for a month, and when she dropped him for being "too unstable", he harassed her over a period of years by posting messages to USENET from a dizzing variety of sock-puppet IDs (see below), claiming she was a prostitute, a witch, a crack addict and so on, to groups like comp.lang.cobol (she was a COBOL programmer) and seattle.eats (she lived in Seattle at the time). When challenged on these defamatory activities, he claimed it was his right under the First Amendment, proving that yes, he really is that stupid.

He's called the Human Resources department of the major corporation which employs a friend of mine in a futile attempt to get him fired. After listening to Lunktard for a while, they asked my friend whether he felt he needed protection from this person who was obviously deranged.

He's posted messages to PalmInfoCenter, a site closely associated with my own work, in order to identify me, by name, personally and professionally with a Livejournal blog I had—something I wasn't in the habit of doing—and inform people that I "flirted with teenage girls", had "a REAL-WORLD BELIEF in OCCULTISM" and was a "SATANIST". All he got for his trouble was a snicker, a yawn, derision, and a record in the access logs for the site (which will be coming in handy).

But, as in this instance, he's in the habit of posting whatever personal information he can get hold of about his targets, as broadly as he can, and in as damaging a fashion as he can think of (which, given his limited mental state, happily doesn't amount to all that much.) He has, however, been known to also harass people through the US Mail, and has been accused of sending pornography to the eight- and ten-year old children of one of his targets. This, combined with his efforts to troll for people's physical locations with offers of CDs containing scans of (copyrighted) books, has subjected some people to horrendous harassment. He uses mail drops to avoid having his activities tracked back to him—the only remotely real address listed in the fraudulent domain registration, 2002-A Guadalupe Street, Austin, TX, is a UPS Store.

He's got a thing for marsupials and uses the names "Lucifer Marsupial" ("Lumar", to his handful of equally insane friends, believe it or not) and, on IM, "thyl4c1n3" (AIM) and "thylacinus_cynocephalus" (YIM). (Reportedly, he predictably has a wide variety of sockpuppet IDs on various IM services as well. If anyone you don't know messages you uninvited and offers you mail you a "free CD" containing "scans of rare esoteric/occult ebooks", that's Lunktard. Block him and report him to the appropriate abuse address! Do not give him your IRL address under any circumstances!)

Lunktard, the Extortionist and NAMBLA Fan—Who's the Pedophile?

"chemo_gnostic@yahoo.com" was the email address initially given by this extortionist when he fraudulently registered the domain STONEMIRROR.ORG, then got it hosted on 50megs.com and filled it up with pedophilia, and pictures from the web site of NAMBLA, so he could turn around and demand $3,500 from me for its "release"! Here's a paper from "Lucifer Marsupial"'s own web site. Note that he gives his email address as "chemo_gnostic@yahoo.com" at the bottom. (He's hidden away that version, since he finally managed to get a look at this page: you can look at Google's cached version instead.) Here's another one. (Ditto.) These were the only two hits that came up when you Google that email address. (PDFs saved. And deleting the web pages won't do you any good, either, Ignatz. Google's cache never forgets.) The Extinct Marsupial has used that same email address on numerous occasions to make fraudulent and defamatory claims of child molestation, drug abuse, etc., against people who have offended him—and since pretty much everyone offends him, anyone could find themselves a target of his lies.

But it looks more like he's the real child molester—the web site he put up on 50megs.com (and which they tore down within twenty-four hours as being well outside their "terms of acceptable use") talked about his "Filipino house boy", "smooth, glistening naked brown boys" and directs people who want to look at "MORE BOYS" to the NAMBLA web site! The Extinct Marsupial feels that to call "love between a man and a boy of 12 to 18 years of age"—i.e. the sexual victimization of a minor by an adult—"sexual abuse" is "a travesty"! He further writes that "Tokyo is well-known for its male prostitutes" and "is a boy lover's dream"! How many boys has this "boy lover" made victims of?

In this transcript from YIM (provided by an LJ member) Lunktard admits that the fraudulent registration of STONEMIRROR.ORG is part of a scheme to extort money from me, and that he's the one responsible:

"Someone bought the domain out from under" me—fraudulently—but I have to buy it back from him. Makes you wonder just who that "someone" could be, eh? Such a bright fellow. And maybe my sense of humor is lacking, but I don't see anything "side splittingly funny" about web sites that promote child molestation or NAMBLA. He seems to have an ongoing interest in it, though...

Those comments in eianorange's LJ clearly establish that this is a case of extortion, making a demand of $3500 and a threat of redirecting the site "somewhere interesting". I'll be getting the IP address associated with them, but I'll bet I know what it turns out to be. [UPDATE: You guessed it. Citizen 70.112.95.200 again. I've got screenshots as well as confirmation.]

Lunktard, the Copyright Infringer and Thief

But fraudulently registering domains and filling them up with materials from NAMBLA isn't all the Extinct Marsupial is about, not nearly! He's a major infringer of other people's copyrights, too! His standard "Away message" on AIM is "scanning and editing books"—other people's books, works by living authors which are still legally protected under copyright!

Here's a report of thyl4c1n3 IM'ing a Livejournal user out of a clear, blue sky to offer her "free scans of rare esoteric/occult ebooks" and then getting vituperative when she turn them down. (Out of consideration for the user in question, I am pointing to a cached copy of the conversation, reproduced on an external site, at her request). I know many others who can report identical experiences. (Fortunately, that particular target was an adult—but given his proven propensity for pedophilia, his stated obsession with "smooth brown boys", and the defense of it which he placed on STONEMIRROR.ORG, who knows who else he might be hitting on!)

See here where he posts anonymously to the Livejournal group chaos_majik to offer his illegal warez, picking the pockets of living authors, like Robert Anton Wilson, who richly deserve your support! Don't help this person steal from an old guy in a wheelchair! Note that "jivan_mukti@yahoo.com" is the email address currently on the fraudulent registration of the domain STONEMIRROR.ORG! And here he does the same thing in Livejournal's psychonaut community, this time using the other email adddress on his bogus registration, "ascorb_ite@yahoo.com". Wow. Twenty-one user names on Livejournal, at the very least. Eighteen suspensions, ditto. (Makes you wonder why Livejournal doesn't just block the IP addresses of idjits like this, but that's another story...) It's kind of impressive in a daffy, psychotic, totally demented way. I mean, it's an accomplishment, as far as it goes, but...

These lists are not exhaustive. There are two current IDs on Livejournal, aktiophi and super_thrifty (the latter seems to have been abandoned, though) and maybe more. There have probably been others that were suspended or deleted that I've never stumbled across for whatever happy reasons...
